Jett had a basketball game at a local school I never had seen before. It was a very big very cool looking school. The kids they played were aggressive and cheaters. Says a lot for the coach and parents in Rock SpringsGa. But you know! We lost by one point and a player from the other team that kicked the legs out from other opposing players to win. 😡 Well anyway we went on to have a wonderful day with family.

Got to the airport early for my flight to ATL and Groome ride to east ridge and home to see my family! The flight was great, in flight movie, short flight. Easy peezy. I slept on van, Haley Brooks picked me up with the boys! Thank you again Haley! She dropped me off and I was so excited to be back and see my girl Dana! She wiggled herself to death.😃 I just sat down in my sewing room and exhaled. Jett had basketball practice so I just showed up! He did a double take you could tell he was excited I was home. I got a wonderful hug he left the basketball court to come hug me! So we hung out afterwords and had a great time!

Today I am so excited I get to go see a movie with endless popcorn and ice, tonight with my best buddy and husband at the luxury theatre here in Miami and tomorrow I leave to go home to Rossville Ga for some Christmas time with my family here and leaving my sweet husband to watch the boat in Miami. Besides taking care of end of year end business. On the way back in to the club we saw the little sailing regatta tons of little sailboats like one winged butterflies darting back and forth on the bay! We were weaved around them and their guide boats to our mooring ball hooked up and boom time to try and cook a broccoli cheddar casserole and hit the movie theatre! Well I put on my cutest sundress brushed my boat hair , put it up and headed upstairs and out to the water taxi and over to the theatre with a brisk walk with my date! We saw an old movie called “planes trains and automobiles” with John Candy and Steve Martin. It was hilarious and the icees were spot on! Wonderful night and great send off to Rossville.

Good morning! Woke up to a beautiful day ready to get out that see through kayak and explore!. Steve informed me he had seen two crocodiles by the mangroves! Yes there are saltwater crocodiles in Florida. Along the southern coastal areas. Soon after that a tour boat showed up with a tour group of snorkelers in the same area! I just hope they don’t become croc snacks!! Well they didn’t, after the snorkeling they loaded up and left with no incidents. Well we sure did well getting into the kayak, although it is a tricky tricky procedure doing it😂. Balance exercises pay off😂😂. Flexible kayaks make life exciting! Didn’t see a lot of underwater life in the kayak but outside of it saw several barracuda some fish hanging out and lots of tourists. We checked on our anchor, little sideways but no strong winds so she held fine. A little bird kept coming from the mangroves to the boat to check on us I guess?! It came back several times and just sat there for 15 minutes or so and then would fly away. See pic below. Steve decided to take the kayak out for an evening cruise👍🏻😃. We ended our day with a great supper and very beautiful sunset! Wishing my family could come stay with us! Goodnight and stay tuned.

We have sailed ourselves into one of the sweetest little spots in lower Matecumbe key where our friends that refitted our rigging work at times. We also have another friend John Hamilton has his boat docked in the boy scout docks here. Unfortunately we did not get to see him due to a health issue, get well soon John. Soo i got out my trusty Sailrite sewing machine to sew straps for our boat appliances we do not want to become flying missiles when our boat hits some rough weather or big waves. Dodging appliances and other loose items is not my idea of a good time, although it could become the next sailing sport with long distance cruisers! So luckily we got to go out that evening with Mark his brother Brian and Curt. These guys are the coolest dudes to hang out with! They took us to a Cuban restaurant with the best food including a conch steak. I had never heard of it but i love conch fritters and try them in every island i go to if they have them. I loved this restaurant regular tables and chairs nothing fancy or as i call fancy – frou frou poo poo. Amazing food and we will be back on our way when we come back north. Our friends were a lot of fun telling stories of amazingly exciting sailing tales. I mean they had one where they were coming down the Tenn Tom in rough water and almost died. They steered the boat toward a boat ramp rammed it up on the bank and the old guy sitting there pointed to a plaque that showed where 6 men died (rescuers and fishermen) when they went over the spillway that they just barely missed going over! So many stories so little time. We rode back to the boat and said our goodnights planning to see each other before we left the keys. Curt and the guys suggested we head to Islamorada where there is a little more going on. So tomorrow we will probably head that way!

CAPTAINS LOG: Good holding at little Matecumbe key by the boy scout marina.

Oh boy today is our day to go spend a few days at Boca Chita across Biscayne Bay. Up and attem as first mate unhooking the ball and stowing away the lines. The water is so calm for the next couple of days I’m sure it’s going to be a great few days. The saltwater splashing against the hull as we cut through the water is mesmerizing and calming. The sails filling with air snapping tight and propelling us to our quiet destination is paradise. As we head out into the bay a lighthouse marks the end of No Name Harbor. Out from this lighthouse is a group of houses on stilts of which only one is in use. Being exposed to that much wind and weather is pretty much devastating to most structures. A slow painful rusting away death from the seas salty touch! It was a calm few hours ride till we reached an isolated anchorage seeing a few boats leave as we arrived. Most of them are your charter boats. We dropped the anchor with a clattering chain that sounded so loud in the quiet stillness of the evening. After that we dropped our dinghy to go explore this place. There were a couple of waterways into the mangroves we explored. No signs of life anywhere looked sort of weird and creepy going back in the narrow waterway that opened up in a big circle with just yuk water and no 🐠 fish. We went out from there and headed toward a lighthouse we saw east of our boat. Think it’s called the Boca Chita lighthouse. Part of Biscayne bay park, and it is so pretty!
