It was a scorcher today so we stayed on the boat. I reorganized several areas, retrieved our laundry (laundry is at the end of our dock basically.), sewed up a hole in the boat seat upholstry and glued some reinforcement fabric to it. In the evening we were going out and met Lauren and Chris 0n “s/v ANYROAD” and went to eat Chinese with them. Then got an ice cream for dessert at the supermarket and back to the nice cool boat! Exciting life guys. Havd a great day!
Big Moose signing off.
We left our other anchorage early this morning at Culebra and headed for Flamenco beach. We arrived after a nice hour or little more sail and arrived there at a beautiful beach with a WW tank on the beach and one right above the beach. The metal was rusting away in layers like the flaking off of tree bark. There was a ton of graffiti painted on them. We also swam and snorkeled some, not too many fish. We had Big tarpon under our boat and our boat buddy had a barracuda under their catamaran. Steve and I cleaned our boat off around the waterline and right under it. Steve unstuck our speed wheel underneath the boat so we can tell how fast we are sailing! There was a snack bar open today and there were a lot of people on the beach too. We ordered chicken on a stick had three different sauces with it and it was great! We sat down with Lyle Jocelyn Micah and Jayce under a cool tree at a picnic table to eat while watching the cats and chickens tolerate each others presence. We headed back to the beach to our dinghy’s drove back to the boat and checked our phones to see what the plan was We all got ready to go to culebrita isle and waited on Pete to get his windlasss fixed( blew a fuse) and we all headed to the new anchorage at culebrita. It was a very short sail to it and it is beautiful!! Pristine beach clear water and local boat blasting Spanish rock😂. The music left at around 8:30 so as Pete said, we and the turtles need sleep. Goodnight peoples!

We went to one of the most beautiful parks I’ve seen! We sailed across the bay to a national park with caves hiking and all sorts of great natural places to see.

Hanging out at the marina today.

Horseback waterfall adventure day! The group gathered together for our trip ( Luna Sea, Blackbird, Ladybug, and us) and anxiously awaited the arrival of our luxury coach van to the mountains of the DR. We loaded into our van with the frilly curtains and we were off to the races! Well to the ranch anyway! The owners of the ranch were very friendly had some really cool stuff to show us. Hot cocoa and other samples of drinks they had. They also farm chocolate or cacou, it’s a really cool process. There are a lot of cacou trees in the mountains. On to the horses! I saw them and thought wow what scrawny horses but these mountain horses were stout and really sure footed( like mtn goats) getting us through those rocky muddy and narrow trails!! When we got to the falls stairway we had a small stairway hike to the falls. Of course at the top there were people set up with trinkets and gifts of all kinds. This is in the mountains remember. So we hiked to the falls and it was gorgeous. Steve and I got into the water and swam behind the waterfalls, and that was cool! Everyone had a great time. I actually made it back up those thousand steps😂. I got a new horse and we ran back to the ranch for our meal cooked and served right there. It was delicious! We made our way back to the marina by way of a really nice grocery store and went through the town by the beaches. What a great day!

Today we took a trip into Samana City with s/v Blackbird ( Lyle Jocelyn Micah And Jayce). I hope I spelled the names correctly! We called up the ole van taxi and headed over the hills and through the streets to the city. The city is filled with open storefronts streetside vendors and motorcycles everywhere. The van driver let us off at a restaurant that served really good food. Usually it’s their family or friends that own the places they take you too. The menu was in Espanol so Lyle informed us that our Google app has a little camera to the right side of it and you can take a picture and hit translate and BOOM no problem reading the Spanish menu! Thanks Lyle! The view over the bay was awesome, as we sat and watched the boats picking out the one that belonged to the guys we met at the Samana marina restaurant the day before. After that we walked around town and found Micah a playground! We sat and watched the people around us and took in the activities going on. We could hear loud noises and cheers close to us. It was probably a campaign rally! For real, they drive around with big speakers in their trucks loudly proclaiming their candidate of choice! As we walked along the scene changed from one of partly closed stores to what looked like a tourist area. Gift stores, pharmacy and tours. We walked to the SAMANA town sign and called for our taxi to come pick us up. What a cool day it was. The dog at the city sign wanted to go with us😢.
