Well up and stem this morning! We went to flip flop beach at 10:30 with Victoria, Mike, Barry, and Andrea. Oh and Ocean the jet black German shepherd! The sand on flip flop beach is so soft and it feels so good under your feet. Ocean was fetching sticks while we were there, two and three at a time! Jumping into the water over and over like a sports game replay😂. We sat and talked a bit just enjoying the sun sand and water, then Victoria and Mike had to leave. So Andrea and I went on a short hike to the windward side of the island. It was a cool hike. We walked through pine needles, through soft sand avoiding the sharp prickle berries that stick your feet, through the mini jungle with palms and scattered different types of trees and bushes creating a shady pretty path that opens into a beautiful beach with mini shells, after you pass the fishing net with stray flip flops and shoes that have washed up on the beach. We walked around and looked at the cute shells enjoying the sound of slapping waves against the sand. Life in the Exumas doesn’t suck!

STEVES BIRTHDAY!

We had a lively sail from Farmers Cay to Georgetown today! Fast too! Heeling some and jumping a few waves and boom we made it! As we arrived our friends Andrea and Barry from our previous adventure were in the anchorage! They are headed home to Tennessee. It was great to see them again! We went to a cool restaurant to eat and celebrate. We went back to the boat played Flip and Spoons. After that I stayed up late making a strawberry refrigerator poke cake! It is now 1 am on Thursday!

Awoke today with Mikes dinghy tied up to our boat and ours gone. I figured something was up so I looked around and saw a sailboat aground close to us. He had anchored too close to land and when the tide turned and his anchor swung BOOM land! They went out to help them set anchors to prevent the boat from going further to shore and damaging the rudder and keel. Later on that day the tide rose and the boat safely floated back to deeper waters. What an exciting day! Lorraine and Mike came over for a bit and we had some of Steve’s spicy pimento cheese with island soda crackers. Was great to have company. We spent the rest of the day watching another storm come in and relaxing.

Farmers Cay anchorages has some funky currents and you may be sitting on your anchor or it may be laying beside your boat. And you turn in different directions from other boats too.

Today we went snorkeling around the rock in the middle of Farmers Cay cut with Lorraine and Mike of s/v Mintaka. We had to go at slack tide so we didn’t have to fight the tide. It can get pretty gnarly if you pick the wrong time to snorkel in certain areas. I have never seen such bright purple fans, extremely colorful coral, especially on the rock walls! So many fish! Big Queen Angelfish, grouper, snapper, neons, triggerfish, fairybasslet, trumpet fish, wrasses, and so many more. Oh a turtle too! We finished there and decided to drift dive (hanging on to your boat and just snorkeling as you go) we were in deep waters headed toward the shallows when Steve said “ two bull sharks get in the dinghy”. I looked and saw a massive bull shark but didn’t see the other one, so I climbed into the dinghy. One your probably ok two might be hunting. Always good to be safe. It’s the one you don’t see that gets ya!😂 Pretty much the end of our snorkeling for today. We decided to head back and fix a dish to go eat at Lorraine and Mikes. He speared two really good size lobsters for supper! It was a most enjoyable evening with excellent lobster fajitas! Thanks Lorraine and Mike! Time to say goodnight and enjoy the pics.
